Sometimes you just need a little go juice. Not in the “I am busy and don’t want to run out of energy” kind of go. But the “I need to go, but haven’t been able to” in a personal kind of way. Enter stage right: Tropical Thunder Life is busy and sometimes you may look up during your daily to-do sprints only to realize you have strictly held a cheese and crackers diet for days. And you are feeling it. Me and the kids start most mornings with a smoothie. It packs a punch and tempers the taste buds to a healthier palate for the day I think. Smoothies are also the title holders for the perfect Fiber delivery system. I prefer my fiber in its al-natural form. But you could also just toss a little psyllium husk in your favorite blend. This smoothie is a gentle power house. It will supply a quick dose of fiber and the GI support you may need at any given time. The taste it light and tropical. Enjoy. Tropical Thunder makes 1 – 2 servings ¾ cup packed spinach ½ cup frozen pineapple ½ banana ½ cup Frozen strawberries 1 tablespoon fresh or frozen unsweetened coconut (1/2 tablespoon if dried) 1 pitted date 2 tablespoons whole flax seeds 4 oz. of Coconut milk 1 tablespoon chocolate chips (optional) Layer the ingredients in your blender as listed. (FYI if you use a single serving blender unit that you invert like a Nutribullet, assemble ingredients in reverse order) The amount of coconut milk you need will depend on your blender. The more power you have at hand, the less required. I add chocolate to everything. Follow my lead or not. Enjoy! On a side note, be certain to enjoy 2 glasses of water within a reasonable amount of time after this smoothie to ensure it has all it needs to do its job without causing discomfort.
